"Otherwise" brings together a constellation of rescued clay fragments, vessels, installations and objects accumulated through the evolving journey of Rescued Clay Projects and the artist’s wider practice. Among them are materials repurposed from collaborative projects in London, carrying traces of the places, people and encounters they have passed through. Fragmented, reassembled and transformed, they remain materially themselves, while their relations continue to shift. We are like the fragments and parts. We move through places carrying traces of histories and encounters. Within a community, these fragments come into proximity, overlap and find ways to exist alongside one another.

The installation brings these trajectories into a shared space. Through Ikebana, collective materials from different encounters are reconfigured, fostering relationships to shift and form anew.

The clay is encountered otherwise.

The object is arranged otherwise.

The familiar is perceived otherwise.

The relationship becomes otherwise.

What happens when our usual ways of seeing and relating to things are unsettled. What might become possible when everything becomes otherwise?
